1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful best robot vacuum that mops vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and automatic vacuum cleaner combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot cleaner with mop that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot vacuum cleaners reviews mop cleaners we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
