The S1 Pro's navigation and mapping capabilities are excellent, with the dToF LiDAR system in the internal unit that allows it to keep a low profile while still delivering top-notch object avoidance. It can be driven close to walls without crashing and avoids steps, and also raises its mop automatically when driving over rugs or carpets with a short pile. However, it struggled with longer-pile carpets as well as some long, thick messes of dried-on debris.

The S1 Pro is ready to be used right straight out of the box and it requires only a quick mapping run to get to know your home. Once it's done the map is displayed in the app and rooms can be added or joined as needed. You can also set virtual boundaries as well as no-go or no-mop zones if there's something you do not want the robot to be able to touch.

The S1 Pro does a great job of removing messes from hard floors due to its rotary mop head, which puts 2.2lbs (1kg) of downward pressure on the floor.
