The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it left off. The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." However, this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.

However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series.
