Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer better cleaning. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuum cleaner best vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, best robot hoover which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuums that mop mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
