The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning robot mop and vacuum machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot vacuum that mops which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
