The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and Best Robot Hoover cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes this robot vacuums with mop automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuum cleaners best that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, best robot hoover washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum cleaner vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
