1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots are good at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It can be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the best budget robot vacuum on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. When connected to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households, but it also fits nicely on a coffee table or on shelves where you can wave it around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house however, it's not enough to cover every area (though an additional run-through often will suffice). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice addition.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top rated robot vacuum selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for top Rated robot vacuum navigation and obstacle avoidance.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for some buyers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

They also come with two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts its power level. It also includes a smart application that lets you see the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and then return it to its dock to charge by pressing the button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to discern where it is focusing or if it has gotten stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the edge. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
