Bose QuietComfort 45

The Bose QuietComfort 45 is the latest version of the premium headphones manufacturer's flagship model. It has the most active noise cancellation and features such as voice assistant support, automatic pausing and automatic pause when you remove the headphones. The design is also more comfortable than the previous versions. There are some things to note, though. Some people might be unable to adjust to the touch-sensitive buttons on backs of the ear cups, which require pressure to activate. And while you can adjust ANC and switch to an "aware" mode that lets in ambient sound however, you are not able to completely shut off the sound.

The headphones are a great buy for those looking for a pair of premium headphones to wear on trains or on a plane, or at home while working. They feature an extremely long-lasting battery, superb noise cancellation, and clear sound. They also feature multipoint Bluetooth which means they can be connected to two devices simultaneously and switch between them with just a touch. They also have a separate application, which isn't as customizable as other models, but has plenty of useful features.

The QC45s have an active noise cancelling feature that is very efficient. It can be a little too loud at times. However, the passive EQ modes are more balanced and give you more control over your music's sound distinctive. If you are listening to songs that have lots of cymbal sparkle you may find your headphones noise slightly grating, but it is fixable by reducing 3-20kHz in the EQ settings of your music player.

Shure's Aonic 50 headphones are premium headphones that focus on audio. They're heavier than the other models at 334g, but they are comfortable enough for long listening sessions. There's a basic set of controls that are arranged around the right earcup including playback, volume and power/pairing. The controls are well-designed but there's a small delay between pressing them and the actions they perform (i.e. when you play the play button while on a phone you'll probably end up blasting your ears with music rather than picking up your mom). They don't have any built-in microphones for voice commands support however, they do have an audio response from Google Assistant and their mics are great at removing background noise from conversations.

They are powered by a single battery that lasts for up to 20 hours, which would be enough for the majority of people. The USB cable is included to charge your phone. It's not as convenient as Bluetooth however, you can listen to music while you recharge. They also work with audio devices with 2.5mm ports, so you can travel with them.

Monoprice's ANC is effective and doesn't sound tinny as some other brands. They have a slight boost between 100 and 200Hz, which provides an even more full sound to bass notes. This is evident in the opening of Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo with a clear and clear response. They have a sharp drop in the higher frequencies above ten kHz. which means that shakers and cymbals will not sound as crisp and clear.

There are three ANC modes to choose from: low, medium and high. The low setting is perfect for blocking out the majority of ambient noise, but it will not stop loud conversations or traffic. The medium setting is suitable for most environments, and the high setting will keep you away from all noise, except for your music. The earcups with touch-sensitive controls can be a bit difficult to use at first. Swiping upwards or downwards on the pad controls the volume, while tapping or swiping left or right changes the track. You can also double-tap to play a pause or answer a call. It takes some time to get used to this system, but once you do you will find it extremely useful.
