Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They improve the effectiveness of the item upgrader mod they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than it was before.

There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide a significant boost to performance and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level will boost its defense. However, it will also affect the speed and agility of the piece. For this reason, it is not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is generally not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. This is still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.

The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. Players should also upgrade items the weapons that their squadmates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is the process of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to obtain them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without destroying it. However, you can only replace one jewel in an equipment piece once.

It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your shields and weapons. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but useful advantages. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the lack of a excellent team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by a hero's top stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Also, consider items with desirable stats that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

In the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket into a red one in the middle and top players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will discover other trinkets in form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
