Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests and missions. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the material or component needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of item names. For example adding a Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item does not attain its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will have lower chances of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will use a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to the highest degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game and can boost the damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another Best item upgrader of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item upgrader kit, the better your chance of getting a unique bonus.

The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling can help you create a more powerful character faster, which allows you to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or only contain one element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense value and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons do not improve the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.

Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their power. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has an updated look.
