The suction motor's 8,000pa will quickly pick up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by much. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily cleaning up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots. This is useful in narrow corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to pick up larger debris like broken toys and books.

Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest best robot vacuum that mops vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to use a proprietary mopping solution and is sold separately. The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have certain unique features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a cleaning sink, and the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically emptys.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't come with an "stuck" status alert in its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a major departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and is a refreshing view in a market that is dominated by bulky boxes and clunky models.
