The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture.
