Over time, the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This type of handle is available in many designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are perfect for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and run off the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to fit any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A shortened lever is also an excellent option for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently to the lever type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be installed on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of the horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to ensure that the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

After you have determined the correct size of PZ and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we sell are sprung. This means they return to a horizontal state when they are not in use instead of hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions that allow them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder's case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles receive. External doors, for example are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders, whereas internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found within the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after usage. Previously a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they tend to droop or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also prevents your door handle repairs from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will require a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handle repair plate handles. They are supplied in one unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to put in and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
