Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It may get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves that you can spin around like an enchanted device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It is able to quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice touch.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently will run out of battery before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
