The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic cleaner and mop vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's more expensive and Robot Hoover make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
