However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, Robot Hoover but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the automatic vacuum cleaner and mop's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot vacuum reviews of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
