Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item level upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
