WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for item Level upgrade a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item level upgrade used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade item your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using a button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade item discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level of an item upgrader mod for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
