World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The upgrade of an item lets players increase the gear rating of an item by up 700 points, and then give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth the effort.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. In addition there are many weapons with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. This bonus could be greater than the damage that an upgrade can do on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to rise until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is generally a good thing, it can have some negative consequences as well. Upgrades can render items inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their performance. For example, if you upgrade a helm or chest, this will increase the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to reroll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain upon upgrading in addition to their relative values. This means that an upgrade from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 33% attack damage. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Armor

Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll need anywhere between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.

You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or spell power. Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are not needed and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade, players should take into account their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they are no longer useful and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade items can destroy the old trinket in the event that it is not salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Item Upgrades an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than purchasing a new one.
