Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to improve your equipment in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This allows you to upgrade your gear without having depend on costly trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upp your items efficiently.

Upgrades to equipment provide an increase in the item's stats. This bonus scales depending on the rarity and level of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons better. They can be found through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in items-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment that contains the components or by using salvage kits of high-end quality, such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products, upgrade components are not destroyed when they are removed from an item.

Upgrade components are typically used to improve an item but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be used to boost the value of an upgradeable item or they can be used to enhance the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can also be made to offer additional benefits. For instance, a specially crafted glyph will boost the chance of upgrading its target, and item upgrade a boost upgrade will increase the attack or defense attribute of a weapon or armor.

Selecting an upgrade template in the GUI will allow you to connect it to an item. This will display the upgrade components that the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench for selecting an upgrade template. In either case, an item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an item gains when upgraded using the component. Organic components, for example have more experience multipliers than mechanical components. It is recommended to upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item comes with an upgrade maximum number that it is possible to receive. The number of upgrades available is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. For instance, the most expensive possible weapon upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. However, the most commonly used upgrade for weapons is a tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.

Sets

A set is a group of items that share bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at minimum once. The upgrade will increase the bonuses that are guaranteed. If an item you're upgrading has a guaranteed bonus it is able to be rerolled only once and its guarantee will reset to 0.
