The Upgrade is among the most important features in Pokemon GO. It allows trainers to evolve Porygon into Porygon2 and also gives them a chance to advance in their Pokedex.

Components

The addition of organic components to an upgraded item will increase its multiplier of experience, whereas mechanical components will decrease it. The best combination is a high experience-multiplier organic component followed by a low-experience-multiplier mechanical component. This will maximize the experience you gain and help you get to the next level.

It's important to know how the upgrade system works to make the most of your upgrades. The system keeps a running total of experience for the component you're upgrading. Each component has an experience multiplier that can be negative or positive. When the total is at an amount that is certain then it's reset to zero.
